Car makers are becoming more bullish on electric vehicles (EVs), especially SUVs. This comes at a time when many states with zero emission vehicle (ZEV) standards are requiring car dealerships to carry and sell more EV models. Here’s a list of some of the most recent EV releases.

The Nissan Ariya – starting at $40,000

NISSAN ARIYA

Nissan plans to release the 2022 Ariya crossover in the United States later this year. Starting at around $40,000, the Ariya has dual motors and e-4ORCE All-Wheel Drive. Its 389 hp and instant acceleration position it to compete with the top EVs on the market. Nissan is adapting quickly to COVID-19 with its virtual drive, which allows everybody to go for a virtual test run.

Features including ProPILOT Assist 2.0, ProPILOT park, and Head-up Display assist drivers with lane change, parking, and more. Additionally, Amazon Alexa is provided in all Nissan Ariyas, providing easy voice control of maps and music.

The Ariya promises up to 300 miles in range with an 87 kWh battery pack – proving that Tesla isn’t the only long-range electric SUV option for new car buyers.

Tesla Model Y – starting at $49,990

TESLA MODEL Y

Elon Musk continues to draw attention, not only because of soaring Tesla stock. His latest release is the Tesla Model Y – sometimes dubbed the affordable version of the Model X – and it’s one of the very first electric SUVs with capacity for seven people (and still room for storage in the trunk!) The expansive all-glass roof provides plenty of headroom and absolutely no visual interruption.

What about the Model Y’s safety, power, and range? With a low center of gravity, rigid structure, and impact protection, the Model Y is top of the class in safety. Tesla’s dual motor allows the Model Y to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and carries an EPA-estimated driving range of 316 miles.

Polestar 2 – starting at $59,900

POLESTAR 2

Made by the Swedish automaker Polestar, the Polestar 2 is the company’s first full battery electric vehicle (BEV). Coined a “fastback”, it has five seats and houses a 360° camera for enhanced safety. The Polestar 2’s Pilot Assist works at speeds of up to 80 mph to assist with steering, braking, accelerating, and more. It has a 78 kWh battery which provides for 660 Nm of torque and a range of 275 miles.

“We’ve designed the Polestar 2 down to a level where even the tiniest detail has a purpose. Stripping away the inessential to leave pure, progressive performance.”

In terms of physical design and qualities, Polestar 2 offers a sleek and futuristic look. Similar to the Tesla Model Y, Polestar 2 has a panoramic roof that is made mostly of glass. Polestar says in cases of crashes or accidents, the glass will stay in place because it is laminated and fixed. Additionally, Polestar uses an 11.15-inch frameless center display to maximize usability. Polestar focused on offering exceptional sound quality for everyone onboard by partnering with Harman Kardon.

The Polestar 2 began production in late March, and will begin delivery in the United States in the final quarter of 2020.
